Upon receiving our charter on December 19, 1859, we shared a lodge with the Free and Accepted Masons of Visalia, located on the Northeast corner of Mill and Church Streets.

In 1873, the Masons and Odd Fellows Conjointly built a new lodge, located on the Northeast corner of East Center Street and North Church Street, one block north of their previous building. the new lodge has been reported to be the largest building between Los Angeles and Mariposa at the time, moving into their building in 1874.

By 1914, Four Creeks Lodge decided to sell their share of the lodge building, purchasing the Brown building, located at 118 South Court Street. The Brown building was three floors and could be seen from the Court House.

In the early morning hours of November 3, 1949, a fire ripped through the top floor, destroying the Lodge room. Due to the extensive fire, it took more than two hours to gain control of the fire.

Due to the amount of water to put out the fire, the second floor and part of the ground floor were destroyed. The fire was so intense, one of the windows on the second floor of the building across the street burst from the heat and the Visalia Fire Department lost one of their firehoses due to the amount of water they were having to use, the hose burst from the pressure. The Lodge was rebuilt and reopened November 1950.

We are excited to let you know that the Independent Order of Odd Fellows has been an active lodge in the Visalia community for nearly 165 years.

On December 19, 1859, The Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of the Jurisdiction of California, granted a charter for Four Creeks Lodge #94. During that time, our doors have only been closed for extreme circumstances. The first instance was when the members made the decision to surrender their charter to the California Grand Lodge on September 21, 1864, due to conflict of interest during the Civil War.

After the conflict was no longer an issue, five of our original charter members requested California Grand Lodge that the charter be Re-Instituted, which was done on February 19, 1866. Even though the charter was surrendered due to these circumstances, the charter members still believed in the watchwords of Odd Fellowship: Friendship, Love, and Truth.

Although there is no history of any other closures, or the loss of our charter through surrender or otherwise, we presume that during the Spanish Flu (1918-1920) the lodge was not active. Should we find record that informs us otherwise, we will update our website at that time. The third time our lodge closed was during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which all activities at the lodge ceased from March 2020 until late 2021.

Throughout the years, Four Creeks lodge has helped members to elevate their character, and to promote good will and harmony within our community.
